Women Empowerment & Gender Equality

Addressing sexual and gender-based violence, property grabbing and economic exclusion — and supporting women to claim inheritance, assets and leadership.

Programme description

Girls and women fall victim to various forms of abuse, including property grabbing and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). To reduce inequalities for women and girls, Trinity Project conducts awareness campaigns against SGBV in communities and provides direct support to survivors through counselling, mediation, and access to documentation (including birth certificates).

We also provide free court-support services — including drafting summons for maintenance, guardianship and custody claims — so that survivors can navigate the legal system without being priced out of it.

The initiative helps women and girls access inheritance rights, achieve equal asset ownership in marriages, and pursue leadership positions at community and higher levels. Trinity Project facilitates economic self-sufficiency through self-help initiatives, business entrepreneurship and life-skills development.

These interventions contribute to the realisation of SDG 16 (Indicator 16.2) and SDG 5 (Indicators 5.1, 5.2, 5.3).
